The ongoing feud between Fox News host Megyn Kelly and political candidate Donald Trump has been the stuff of legend for the past year, dating back to when she hosted the first Republican primary debate in tough fashion and Trump subsequently accused her of having been on her period at the time. She appeared to have come out on top of the exchange, having gained the respect of those who appreciated her unwillingness to back down from Trump’s insults. But it turns out not to be over, as Kelly is accusing Trump of having tried to poison her.
Megyn Kelly, who had already been tough on Donald Trump during her Fox News show prior to the first debate, became violently ill just before the debate and almost wasn’t able to moderate it. According to a new profile of her former boss Roger Ailes in New York Magazine, it turns out Kelly believed Trump might have tried to poison her by slipping something into her coffee so that he wouldn’t have to face her during the debate.
The accusation immediately brings to mind the famous incident in which Russian President Vladimir Putin once killed a reporter he didn’t like by poisoning him with toxic chemicals. Trump has repeatedly professed an admiration for Putin, while promoting one policy favorable to Russia after another, and he recently had to part ways with campaign manager Paul Manafort after it was revealed that Manafort had allegedly received millions of dollars from the Kremlin.
