According to the Hollywood Reporter, Johnny Depp will star in the thriller, “Labyrinth” as Detective Russell Poole, who investigated the murders of both Tupac Shakur and the Notorious B.I.G.
Randall Sullivan wrote the book, “LAbyrinth: A Detective Investigates the Murders of Tupac Shakur and Notorious B.I.G., the Implication of Death Row Records’ Suge Knight, and the Origins of the Los Angeles Police Scandal.”
The book followed Poole as he investigated the murders of both rappers. During his investigation he was able to tie the LAPD to the rappers deaths. He believed that officers from his own force were tied to Death Row Records and the Bloods street gang.
Nonetheless, the findings in his investigation caused him to retire from the police force in 1999 after the chief of police ordered him to stop all investigations.
Poole died of a heart attack in August of 2015 while discussing a case at the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
