Neymar Jr's agent revealed the Bacerlona star was close to joining Man U or PSG this summer for a $40M deal before extending his stay at Bacerlona

Neymar came close to joining Manchester United or Paris Saint-Germain this summer before committing his future to Barcelona.

The forward, who joined the Catalans from Santos, penned a new deal to keep him at the Nou Camp until 2021 but his agent has claimed talks were held over a move to both England and France.

At 24 and in the prime of his career, Neymar was linked with both United and PSG in the transfer window just closed, though for any deal to be possible a huge fee would have had to have been involved.

'He (Neymar) was close to joining PSG,' Wagner Ribeiro told Brazilian media. 'He would have earned €40 million a year net.

'Neymar was also close to a spell at Manchester United, but he extended his contract to earn less at Barcelona because he wanted to stay at Barcelona.'

The Brazilian has been a key figure for Barcelona since joining in 2013, forming a fearsome attacking trio alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in recent seasons.
