Photos: Atletico Madrid welcomes Diego Costa home as Chelsea confirm £58m permanent transfer for wantaway star

Diego Costa's protracted return to Atletico Madrid from Chelsea is official after the two clubs confirmed the deal on Tuesday night.

The £58million transfer will go through on New Year's Day with the Spain international set to team up again with manager Diego Simeone.

The 28-year-old striker has initially signed on loan until the end of the season, although Atletico's transfer embargo means he cannot play until January. It will then become a permanent move next summer.
