Teenager, 16, died after collapsing at college because hairball in her stomach had become infected

A "bubby" 16-year-old has died suddenly after a hairball in her stomach became infected.

Jasmine Beever was initially resuscitated after falling ill on Thursday last week, but tragically died in hospital .

Just days before her death, the popular student had attended her grandfather's funeral.

After her sudden collapse, Jasmine went home to bed, where blotches started to appear on her skin.

The teenager, from Skegness, was rushed to hospital as her condition deteriorated, but medics were unable to save her.

The teenager, from Skegness, was rushed to hospital as her condition deteriorated, but medics were unable to save her, the Lincolnshire Echo reported.

A post mortem has since revealed she had peritonitis, which is an inflammation of a thin layer of tissue in the abdomen. She had a hairball in her stomach which became infected, causing the inflammation.

Now Jasmine's best friend, Billy Jo Ashwell, has decided to raise money to help her family.

She has already raised more than £1,100. On a JustGiving page , Billy wrote: "Anyone that knew Jasmine knew what a wonderful, caring girl she was. She had a real zest for life.

"There was never a gloomy face around Jaz because she would go out of her way to make you smile.

"Even people she didn't know. She would always offer a helping hand for anyone that was struggling or offer her shoulder and a hug to anyone that was having a bad day."

Billy's mother, Donna Marshall, said she will never forget the 16-year-old, who was studying at Skegness Academy when she collapsed.

She said: "Jasmine was amazing. She was one of those kids where she would make a sad face in the room smile. She was so bubbly.

"She was friends with Billy and she would always shout across the road to me 'Donna are you okay?' and then she would ask if there was anything I wanted. She said if I needed help then I should give her a shout.

"She was such a darling. I am going to miss her terribly. We are all in shock."
