'My role as a midfielder is not to score' - Paul Pogba

After giving away a penalty, duly converted by James Milner, Pogba produced a lacklustre display and seemed overcome with the occasion in a hostile Old Trafford atmosphere.

The France midfielder addressed his 12 million followers on Instagram on Monday, saying: ‘S*** happens.’

'At least we did not lose. Never stop fighting.'

Pogba endured a slow start to life under Jose Mourinho but his improvement in form coincided in an upturn in fortunes for his side in recent weeks.

Pogba claimed people expect too much following his world-record £89m move. ‘People say that, at that price, a player must score or provide assists.

'My role as a midfielder is not to score.

'I have to work for the team rather than think about myself.
